Description
Petnica Summer Institute (PSI) is organized every summer at Petnica Science Center and, starting in 2025, will feature three parallel tracks covering theoretical physics, phenomenology and astrophysics, and experimental and applied physics. PSI is founded on a common practice with Petnica Science Center: peer education and learning through research! Just as high school pupils in regular Petnica programs are taught and mentored by undergraduate students, together with university lecturers, PSI aims to provide lectures to final-year undergraduate and early graduate students by senior PhD students, as well as postdocs and tenured researchers. PSI schools are not only limited to lectures but also include discussion sessions, problem-solving, and independent project work.
One of the main objectives of PSI is to bring together students of physics, astronomy, and engineering from the Balkans / Southeast Europe and give them an opportunity to meet one another and learn about recent developments in fundamental and applied physics from their senior colleagues from around the world. Although the focus is regional, we welcome students from all over the globe. Indeed, we have had participants from Western and Eastern Europe, North and South America, East Asia, and beyond.
With a long history of organizing similar programs, Petnica Science Center is the perfect place for such an event. In a stimulating and informal environment, our participants can fully benefit from exchanging ideas, learning from each other, and creating stronger bonds within the region and between the region and leading European and US research institutions.
